Alas, the long awaited moment! It's finally winter break! 8D A two-week long break from school, which is freaking awesome. I don't know what I'm going to be doing all day long, though. I do know that from December 24th - December 26th, I'll be missing. Which also means that on Christmas day, I'll wake up in some alien-like environment. Bleh.
And thus concludes this super-short post. >.>

Company~
Today, my mom's friend from who-knows-how-long came to stay with us. She's really nice, and she gave me and my brother a box! Yeah, you'd probably think it wasn't anything exciting or anything, but my brother's is like this complicated maze box that you have to go through a lot of steps in order to open. It took him a long time, but he finally got it.
And I got a new iPod today! ^___^ Now I won't have to do homework in front of the computer if I want to listen to music at the same time.

Erm... Not the Best Halloween
I know; I should've posted this like two months ago. But anyways, I was sort of dead. So my Halloween went like this:
The day or the day before, these people announced that our school was going to hold a Halloween costume contest, and there's three sections: Most Funny, Most Original, and Most Scary. I didn't know what I was thinking, and I wasn't expecting to win, but apparently, my class elected me to go for Most Original. I was going to be L for Halloween, but nobody would know that, so I was like "Oh, I'm going to be a tired person", which sort of fits his description. SORT OF.
And on the day, on the stage, I was just like into the mic: "Hello, people. I'm er... a tired person!" because I'm certain that nobody would know what I am without that. Heck, everyone thought I was goth >.>"
Anyways, the two kids from my class got first place, and I didn't get anything. -.-" And I think that the Most Original contest turned into a Funniest Contest, because all the kids who won prizes were like sort of funny. The first place dude was a robot, and it was sort of funny because he kept on crashing everything, the second place person had spaghetti hair, and the last person was a safety-guard person (this one wasn't that funny, but I thought he looked sort of funny. Maybe it's just me though).
During advisory, I got this feeling that over half of the class was mad at me because I didn't get anything, and two kids were complaining to me about it. "Aw, Sally! You didn't win us any points!" Bleh. And I wish I told them "Well get over it; it's better than not trying at all!" I didn't though; I was feeling a bit depressed at that time to actually think of a comeback. ToT\
That night, when we went trick-or-treating, the sky was cloudy; it rained earlier, and there was a drizzle when my friend and I went out. We were trick-or-treating alone, and we went into this neighborhood that my other friend lived in, and I can't say it was exactly trick-or-treater friendly. The place was like dark, there was no decorations, and nobody was here. I figured we started out pretty early.
Anyways, it was raining somewhat hard now, and we had to run back to my house to get an umbrella. And then when we came out, the rain stopped. Bleh. THEN the rain started again, and after I got the umbrella up for like a couple of minutes, the rain freaking stopped. That happened for quite some time, until I finally gave up and stopped using the umbrella.
I can't say it was the best Halloween I had; I don't think you could call it nice if you had this feeling that you had a whole horde of angry classmates who are mad at you. And the rain ruined it a bit, too, because it wasted some time. Bleh. At least we nearly filled our bag up; and I got 3Musketeers bars, so I'm sort of happy. ._.

Bad Teachers Much? D<
Rawr. Salsal angry! Salsal has the world's worst teachers! Dx
Yes. You heard my. Half my teachers are crap.
P.E. teacher - he plays favorites; he loves this kid and hates the rest of the class. And he's so strict. Dx
Science teacher - she's not that bad, but she still loses her temper at the class, and nobody ends up happy. And she's really strict too.
Core teacher - Bleh. She hates me with all of her heart and soul. She calls me out in class so much times, and she nearly lost her head when I lay my head on the desk for like a split second. Bleh.
Only my Math and Band teachers are good. And Wheel doesn't count; I switch teachers constantly.

First Few Days of School!
Yes, I know, this should've been posted in like, August, but whatever. Anyway, Middle School had started, and I was really excited ^_^
My schedule went something like this:
0 Period: P.E. (with a horrible teacher)
1st Period: Advanced Math
2nd Period: Band
3rd Period: Science
4th-6th Period: Core (language arts, social studies, and reading)
7th Period: Wheel
Anyways, the first day of school went okay. I went to the multipurpose room to pick up my schedule, and I had almost all of my classes except for two with my best friend (whose name I will not mention in case she wants to kill me).
1st Period: I tried getting my teacher to call me Salsal; but apparently, it didn't work. She marked "Sally" in her attendance book x.x I'm thinking that I didn't make a good impression.
2nd Period: I tried getting my band teacher to call me "Salsal". He didn't seem to mind that much, but marked "Sally" in his attendance book anyway.
3rd Period: I tried getting my science teacher to call me "Salsal". It didn't work; she didn't mark anything in her attendance book and went on calling me by my er... passport name. I don't think I made a good impression, and I'm thinking that she probably decided at that moment that I was the devil spawn or something.
4th-6th Period: I gave up on getting teachers to call me "Salsal". I made too much bad impressions already x.x
7th Period: I had foods to begin with, and you get to cook in this class. It was fun; and the teacher was nice. I wanted to make her happy~
The second day...
Well, the day started out normal, sort of. I came to the gym, because that's my first class, and then the bell rang and everyone came out. But when people came out, I saw that it was my friends who have band!
"Where were you?!" a friend shouted at me. "You missed P.E.!"
"What?! I did?!"
"Yeah, P.E. starts at 7:30 (which happened to be the time I woke up at -_-)!"
Bleh. That wasn't very pleasant. I mean, imagine accidentally cutting class on the SECOND day of school and learning that you have to wake up at like, 6:30 AM everyday or something. Bleh. I ran into the gym to tell my P.E. teacher that I accidentally skipped P.E. because I didn't know; and he didn't seem that bothered about it. Just yet. Anyways, I live, but I probably didn't make a good impression.
Third day:
We had pictures day today, and it's a Wednesday. Every Wednesday, school starts at 9:06AM. But today, since we had to take pictures, I had to wake up at like 7:30AM and arrive at school at like 8:30AM to get pictures taken. Anyways, the day before, I was sort of paranoid, because I didn't want to come really early and find that it isn't time to take pictures yet; and make myself look like a fool. And I didn't want to come late, either, because I'd look like a delinquent. Probably. So the day before, I kept on pestering my friend about everything and confirming the time.
Right. I got the pictures. Well, I got it on my ID card. I'll send one over if you want. x.x
And thus concludes the first three days of school!

Camp!
Anyways, what the title said!
One thing that was really exciting for me was that I went to a Chinese Camp. It was to teach us about movie-making, and what can I say? Whenever I see like this live-action movie or whatnot, I always wonder "How long did it take for them to film this?!" because it takes FOREVER to film something. I swear - they probably filmed one part up to like, sixty times before. O_O My patience would really run out by then. Hell, I'd probably be gone by then!
Anyways, let's describe my lovely time at camp!
Day One, 7/26/08:
We were waiting in front of the place where they would get the bus to take us to the camp place. And believe me, it was CROWDED. I looked for my class, and unfortunately, there were a bunch of little kids. Well, there were probably kids that were just short for their age, but still. I didn't feel too comfortable, and neither did my cousin. We just kept to ourselves, and talked in English.
Yeah, blah. We got onto the bus, and luckily, my cousin and I got seats together. xD
We got to the place, and we had to film something along the way, which really pissed me off. I wanted to watch the scenery outside, but all this "Stop!" and "Again!"s made it kinda hard to watch something peacefully -_-"
So the first stop was our dorms. As we walked there, there were dead mosquitoes plastered everywhere (which I must add, totally didn't help my impression of this place), and it didn't smell too pleasant.
We got our dorms, and luckily, I ended up with my cousin (again! XD). There were these other girls in our room, one who is about as tall as me, and this other short one wearing a dress.
Then I looked at the bathroom, and there were two sinks, one of those squatty potties (Ugh, hate those) and the shower was with the potty thingy. And there were no walls to prevent the water from the shower leaking out.
And did I mention there were dead mosquitoes on the walls?
That afternoon, we were filming, but I didn't realize it that much, and I was really sleepy. So I fell asleep. XD But there was this fun part, where two of the kids were fighting, and then one ran and they were chasing each other around the room, my cousin and I wore our caps the wrong way, and pretended to be the gangsters from America shouting "Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!" XD So that was fun.
Day 2, 8/27/08:
We got these lines for a movie today! Except I got a little arrogant, and picked out a good part. Maybe I was a little too confident about my acting skills....
Anyway, my part had all these complicated words in it that I couldn't read, and then the kids started yelling at me saying "YOU STUPID IDIOT! DON'T YOU EVEN KNOW THAT WORD?!"
Well, that didn't help my self-esteem, but I knew that I couldn't turn back - my name wouldn't be too good then. >< And my cousin had a lucky break, because she got this part with a bit of English in it, and the language was easy. What can I say? The kids weren't too happy. We both got yelled at horribly that day.
Day 3, 8/28/08
The day went normally. Nothing surprising happened. Much. My teacher decided that the play with my part that has super complicated words was not fit to be a movie, so we did something else. It wasn't so hard - and I love my role.
The story we're going to film is about this kid who brought a pear for lunch, and he didn't want it, so he gave it to the teacher. From there on, the story traveled and traveled and traveled until it reached the ears of a news reporter, who wrote it as a newspaper article. And so the kid got rich, and then he was being driven crazy by the reporters who want to interview him to get a good scoop on a story. XD
And I'm one of those reporters! XD One of the reporters who were taking pictures of the kid. I feel bad for my cousin, though, because she's the kid (and the kid's a guy. But the rest of the kids said that if she doesn't play that role, it's not going to look right), and she has to memorize all these lines and stuff. Not fun. xD
8/29/08
Fourth day - we went swimming! XD We had to walk to the place, and it was like, a fifteen minute walk.
We got there, changed (ugh. And in front of all these people!), and jumped into the pool. I must say - it was FREEZING in there o________O But then I got dragged out of the pool (along with my cousin and some other kids) because we were supposed to film for a movie. And it took up over half of the time. -__- And there was practically no swimming time. We only got to stay in the water for like, ten minutes after the filming and then we had to go... -______-""
8/2/08
Eighth day - we were playing tug-of-war today, and it was sort of good and sort of bad at the same time.
Our class won the first round against this class, and they had two college (or to-be-in) students. And then, on the next round, we were going to start, and I was at the back, and then the match suddenly started. The problem is, I didn't hear the dude counting, and even worse, I found out later that we had been against the class we beat before and the class we were facing, so we were facing... hm. I'll say about forty three people. And our class only had twenty three. And what annoyed me even more after that was that over half the population of our class started crying because they lost.
Later, I heard from one of my classmates that one of the college students from the other class that we clobbered stuck the middle finger at him, and it was sort of funny. If you think of it now, that is.
8/4/08
Last day; and I must say, I'm missing that old dump. I miss the crappy living environments, I miss the teachers, I even miss the long boring hours where we sit in the classroom trying to film things. ToT
Anyways, our teacher picked my cousin, me, and this other girl to be like directors for our class or something, and my part was complicated. I managed to get through it, though, so I'm fine.
I admit something: I cried when we were about to leave; I really had fun at this place. ToT But at least I'm keeping in touch with a person that I met in camp. There's this other guy who has my email, but he doesn't seem to email me anymore. He emailed me when we first got back from camp, but I think he forgot about us. xD
And thus concludes my camp trip! (bleh, took about months to finish. I'm such a procrastinator. x.x)

The Painful Process of Getting Your Hair Straightened
I got my hair straightened! Yes, you heard me! I. Got. My. Hair. Straightened.
And the process was really painful.
First, they wash your hair. Not much painfulness there.
Then, they dry your hair, and leave you sitting there.
After they come back, they put this smelly chemical thingy on your hair, and let you sit there for like, half an hour or less. And that totally killed my nose.
When they come back, they put this wrapper thingy around your hair, and they use this thing to heat your hair for like, another hair an hour or less.
So when they get back, they take the wrapper thingy off, and then they wash your hair.
Then... finally, finally, FINALLY!!!
They straighten your hair. And the guy kept on pulling my hair hella hard, which totally didn't help. -.-"
After they straighten your hair with that iron thingy, they put this other chemical in your hair. My cousin says it smells like apples - not like I deny it. Much. I though I caught a bit of an apple scent in that chemical, but then, it didn't smell that bad.
Then they made me sit there for fifteen minutes.
Then, then, THEN they washed my hair with all this shampoo stuff, and tada! My hair was straight~~
Let's see now...
I started the process at about 9:00 PM, and the process ended at 12:30AM. Well, I think you get the idea of how long and painful the process is...
Anyway, I have a picture here... Just lemme try to upload it.
And I fail at that... XD Just ask me for it or something - I'll send it over. o-o

The Adventures of Salsal and Her First Day in Shanghai!
Wheee~~~~ I have finally arrived in Shanghai! And then I am off to Beijing, where there is...
... no internet!
Anyways, yesterday, our plane was like, late. Really late. Kind of. If you consider twenty minutes really late, then yeah... XD
So we waited at the airport for like, two hours. When we were supposed to wait for like... I don't know, really.
And then the plane came. And we went on it. And my cousin and I sat in the middle aisle, with this other guy next to us.
And then... after twenty minutes of waiting for people to board, the plane takes flight!
It rolls into the flying track thingy! It gets its engines ready! Then, it starts running and the passengers in it bounces up and down! And then it flies! Wheeeeeeee~~~~~
Anyway, over half the time, my cousin and I were drawing, talking, or... yea. Talking. Let's put it that way. The guy next to us asked if I took drawing classes or something, and I was like "No, I learned this on my own." And then he complimented me on "how talented I was, being able to learn to draw like that on my own". I think I'm being cursed, cuz talking to strangers make me feel funny.
And then I ate bag of peanuts, and drank a cup of sprite. And then we talked for a bit. Then I took a piece of gum. And the landing killed my ears, and the gum was all gooey. And got stuck in my hair. Kind of. My fingers were sticky, a tip of my hair was polluted, and my mouth was sticky. xD
The plane arrived at about 12:40 AM, which was technically the next day.
And then we got off, got our baggage claims, all that junk. And then after we got our baggage, we went to the place where we wait for a taxi, and...
... the place was barren. And there was this HUGE line. And we waited for a long time, and got onto a taxi at 1:15, which... yea. xD I'm impatient.
There is only one phrase to describe the taxi ride: Laughing attacks galore!
And we arrived at 2:00AM at our hotel. I can't say I am very fond of it. I prefer the hotel in Shenzhen better xD
And then I slept at 3:00 AM, because I had to take a shower. And I went to sleep with wet hair.
I woke up at about 12:00PM the next morning, and then ate cup noodles for lunch/breakfast. And then my cousin, brother, and I spent the afternoon sitting on the couch going on the internet and watching Death Note.
Then, at night, we went out to eat, and then we went shopping. And then my cousin and my brother needed to go to the bathroom, and they didn't want to go to the public bathroom because it smells, so we went back to the hotel. XD
... no internet!
Anyways, yesterday, our plane was like, late. Really late. Kind of. If you consider twenty minutes really late, then yeah... XD
So we waited at the airport for like, two hours. When we were supposed to wait for like... I don't know, really.

Unlucky Amusement
I... am cursed. Because my day today was horrible. Lemme tell you about it.
We were going to this amusement park today, and I thought it was going to be a blast! Well, guess what? It wasn't... ._."
It was pouring at like, a billion gallons a second, so we were forced to go in. And then we saw this ride, and we went in line, and waited for like an hour. Then we went on the ride, and all we did was shoot red dots with a gun while sitting in this cart, and it barely lasted five minutes.
And we went out, and there wasn't any rain. Well, not much. Just a little drizzle. So we walked around, and almost all the rides sucked.
We walked for a bit, and then there was this roller coaster thingy. It wasn't the best, but good enough.
So we ran for the line, and it turns out that we were first. Then we found out that they were testing the roller coaster, because it just finished raining. So we waited. For over an hour. And then we got impatient and walked away, and a minute after that, the ride was open.
I was pissed. Seriously. I think that the God of Luck has something against me today.
And we ate lunch after that, and the rice was all burnt, the chicken had all these pieces of bone stuck in them, and the bok choy was bitterish. But I liked the orange juice!
Then there was this ride that was like sixty meters/feet high, and the line was short. My cousin and I got in the line, but right before our turn, I had to poo. So I went to the bathroom, with those holes in the ground, and then when I finished pooing, it turns out that my cousin was done with the ride. Without me.
And then we went for this other roller coaster, and I slipped on the way. There's this stain on my white pants, right where the butt is, and then my arm was like, red. After I washed the debri. And then I slipped again! And had to walk back to the water fountain. Nice, eh?
But then the rest of the day was decent.
We went on this fast roller coaster, which was fun, then we rode on this water ride twice, and I was soaked, and then we went on this spinny ride that makes us go upside down, and we rode another one that tosses us high in the air and spins us there. So all was good.
And then after we finished the rides, we went to watch this show. A part of it was boring, but most of it was really cool! I was jealous. The women who were performing were so skinny! O.O
THEN we went back to the hotel, and my stomach started hurting. And then we went to eat dinner with my dad's friend's wife and her kid, and he's thirteen. And big. And scary. And clings onto his game boy, so that wasn't a very pleasant of an experience.
And my stomach still hurts, sadly. ._."
All in all, it was a bad day.

What Do You Think of Your Friends? A blogthing before I head off to Beijing, where there are no internet access!
Ah yes, another blogthing. One last (or two last) blogthings before I lose the internet access.
And now, my real life friends! Oh, and I tried adding my own comments into it. XD The stuff in the parenthesis are my comments, methinks.
What You Really Think Of Your Friends |
Kitari-senpai is your soulmate. You truly love Jassy-senpai . You consider Reckless-senpai your true friend. You know that Tally-senpai is always thinking of you. You'll remember Awin-senpai for the rest of your life. You secretly think Rain-senpai is creative, charming, and a bit too dramatic at times. You secretly think that Gelly-senpai is colorful, impulsive, and a total risk taker. You secretly think that Rain-senpai is loyal and trustworthy to you. And that Rain-senpai changes lovers faster than underwear. You secretly think Awin-senpai is shy and nonconfrontational. And that Awin-senpai has a hidden internet romance. |

What You Really Think Of Your Friends |
Judy is your soulmate. (Um, scary much?!) You truly love Connie. (Wow.) You consider Sunny your true friend. You know that Victoria is always thinking of you. (Uh... right) You'll remember Makena for the rest of your life. (That works, I guess.) You secretly think Lisa is creative, charming, and a bit too dramatic at times. (Eh... wow.) You secretly think that Erin is colorful, impulsive, and a total risk taker. (Totally.) You secretly think that Madi is loyal and trustworthy to you. And that Madi changes lovers faster than underwear. (WHAT THE FRICK?!) You secretly think Mo is shy and nonconfrontational. And that Mo has a hidden internet romance. (She'd kill me. XD) |
The Last Day Ay My Grandma's House!
Today is special... because it's the last day at my grandma's house, before I go back to Beijing, where I will be staying for most of my vacation.
Well, let's describe this day, shall we?
It was pretty much well, normal and uneventful. My brother and I stayed home all day, we went on the computer, drew, read, yea, you get the point.
In the afternoon, I got a call from my friend, Connie. And guess what? She said that she met a good friend that she has met online in real life! It was so cool, and I knew that person as well. She's such a sweet girl; well, someone older than me... XD Anyways, Connie is sixteen, turning seventeen this year, and the girl that she met is fourteen. Maybe a two to three years difference? XD Anyway, I feel so happy for them, celebrating their fourth of July together! If only I was there with them!
Later, I was eating durian; the leftovers from yesterday, and it was surprisingly good! Maybe sitting in the refrigerator has its effects. But it was still really sweet; I had to eat it with water!
Anyways, we're having dumplings for dinner! ^o^ With meat and vegetable fillings; I can't wait! Everyone from my dad's side of the family's coming! It'll be so fun!
Sadly though, it is the last day that I am guaranteed to have internet access =/ There aren't any in Beijing, unless you count me staying over at my uncle's, whose house is really really squished. And the toilet sucks, because you have to well, it's not your everyday porcelain bowl toilet. There's this hole in the ground and that's what you pee in. o-O I think that people who have been to China before would know of it. XD
Anyway, here to say a final farewell to my grandma and her family this year, because I don't think I will be coming back. ='(
